We swim in the sea and in the fjord, but do you know the fauna under the water?

At Fiskeriets Hus you can not just see the fishes, but also touch some of them. In everyday usage Vestkyst Akvariet is also called Fiskeriets Hus which means the House of fishing. It is in this museum you will find an explanation of many of the questions that occur when you take a walk on the harbour in Hvide Sande.


The museum gives the visitor insight in the history of the town, the development in the fishing industry and the work of the rescue teams. Hard to imagine life on a small boat? Go in the wheel house and imagine the big sea in front of you. In the basement you can see the fishes you swim with in the North Sea and in Ringkøbing Fjord. The “touching basin” is for the curious and brave children and parents. Touch a plaice and feel its rough surface, or try to catch a crab.
