Hee Kirke

Visit one of Denmark's most significant romanesque buildings

Hee Church is with its distinctive tower and in spite of rough restoration in 1882-84 one of the most significant romanesque buildings. Presumably erected in 1140's, the tower about 1200. Romanesque chanel and nave with two late gothic extensions toward south (romanesque style built of materials from the devasted No Church, why the extension still is called "No Church") and a high romanesque western part.

Over the portal you can see grotesque human heads jutting out. The altarpiece is a significant piece of work in late Renaissance from 1635. In the chanel is parish clerk's chair with the arms of Juel and Munk and a priest's chair from 1600. In the nave is a gothic rood from around 1450.
