Visit the church on the market square in Ringkøbing

The church was built in more phases. The main nave is the oldest part, which gives the theory that there has been a romanesque church here before the present gothic. The church is built in red medieval large bricks, but for more than 100 years the church was whitewashed. The architecture bear the stamp of gothic suited for the 14. century.

The tower was built shortly after the the Reformation about 1550 and has the characteristic that it is widest at the top. The north part is from 1592-93. The pulpit from 1593 is gift from the mayor Fr. Busk and is a fine piece of wooden work in Renaissance. The church was extended in 1934-35. In 1995-96 the inside went through a restoration and the historical furnishings were repaired. The new alter picture by the artist Arne Haugen Sørensen gives the room a special touch. The new font is also designed Arne Haugen Sørensen and produced by Per Hebsgaard. The old organ from 1654 is preserved, but is only used at the annual summer concerts. The new organ was painted in beautiful colours fitting the room and not least the old altarpiece by Sophus Schach, now placed close to the organ. A sundial of limestone can be seen on the outside in the western buttress towards south. It is dated from 1728.
